Uu little girl came to witness that, morning shortly after <> o'clock, and said 'hat her mother was dead. She said that. the decerned h.id just -topped breathing. The little girl .-aid her mother had been in lied two weeks, and had not spoken to her since Wednesday. She wa< breathing on Friday. -She would not. let witness go for help or to her M-rter. , , The Senior-Sergeant t-iuteri that the little girl wa s evidently mistaken. The body was quite cold. FOUND DROWNED
While Mr 11.. King was bathing on the beach at Sumner near the Cave Rock Vhortly before 0 a.m._ on Saturday, he noticed '<■. dark object floating about in the water. Upon investigation he found u, to he the M. v of a voung woman; fully dressed in black 'clothing. Constable J-lanipt.On, of tiumner, was communicated with, ana had the body brought, to the morgue, where it was identified ay that of Anne IHmhi, aged -3, ol 10 Cleveland "street, Chris tdiureh. • At the inquest, held before Mill. \V. Bishop. Coroner, . Randolph King gave, cyidcnee as >o finding the-body. William Dixon, carpenter, deposeri that the deceased Wat* his daughtn • falic was in her -.'3rd ye ;l r. She had been aI. service for two days ;jt the Convalescent, Home. She. bad no), hern well for sonic, time, and had been in hospital. Witness last saw her on Thursday evening at witness's home. She was all right, and in fact seemed brighter than usual. Tin had no idea that, she wished to do awav with herself. Tip received a note from the Homo stating that- she was missing oil Friday afternoon. A letter written in a despondent, mood was found ajnong her effects, but, witness had no idea, that heq mind was unhinged. On Thursday nignt. her pister Gladys accompanied the deceased right up to the gates of the Home. From enquiries hc(witness) made, it was found that a gi'l (most, probably the deceased') watched his daughter Gladys get on the tram, and the motorma.n of the nc-xi, trani remembered a girl getting on there. The Coroner returned a verdic'- oi found drowned.
