At- the wool sales 7141 hales were catalogued. There were iairiv good offerings from South Africa and New Zealand, but Australian merinos were in small, second-hand parcels. Prior to the sale the chairman of the "Wool Buyers' Association announced that as the result of negotiations with, the Army Council, the sales would be allowed to proceed without restrictions. •Jhis enabled the dealers and small ! topmakers to operate, and consequently there was good general competition. It was evident that requirements were urgent, and an all-round advance of from ~'j to 10 per ccnt. was established over the November closing rates. Dircct consignments from the growers will be offered immediately after Christmas. Tlie Bradford market is unchanged., but of firm tone, awaiting the result of the Ifondon auctions.
