Seven little girls at the Elmwood School held a concert in aid of Dr. Barnardo's Homes in tho elied on tho echool grounds yesterday, which was filled to overflowing with parents and pupils, the prico of admission being 3d. The littlo performers acquitted themselves admirably, several items bein<j <sncorcd. They gave a. fairy play, with a. transformation scene. Both songs aud play were given without fl'iy aduit training. Tho contributions were:—Mjss Pearl Wilkinson, pianoforte solo; Misses Evelyn Hill, Isa. Angus, Ruby and Frances Clark, and Carol Baldwin, dances; Misses Mavis Shipley, Meroa, Somerset, Evelyn Hill, Moyro Free, and Joyce Thornton, recitations. The services of three boyst wcro also enlisted, Masters Neil MoGiliivray, Robert Morley. and Arnold Morley contributing a recitation, a song, and pianoforte eolo respectively. The chair was taken by Mr Johnson, assistant master. MISTLETOE LODGE. At the half-yeajrly summoned meeting of Mistletoe Lodge, No. 3, Q.A.0.D., A.D. i3ro. J. \W yalley presided. Present—Dr. Chilton (chairman). Rev. F. Rule, the Mayor (Mr H. Holland). Mosa:s V. B. Bultitudc. G. Barrail, E. Pa ri a no, W, Itobson. The Inspector's report on the work of the echool was received, and it was dccided to congratulate the headmzstcr and teaching; staff on the generally highly satisfactory nature of it, in spite of the disadvantages aiising from frequent changes in the teaching staff, ©tc. Tho headmaster's leport showed the roll number in the primary department to be 732, v.-ith an average attendance <rf C 72.9, and in the secondary department 220 and 213.3 respectively. During the year tho following articles vrcre sent to the Red Cross from tha infant school and primary department: — 1021 handkerchiefs, 5 do7.cn washers, 16 dozen pillow-slips, 1 dozen cloths. 45 treasure bagß, and from the secondary department— Girls: 6 pairs eocka. 11 dozen handkerchiefs, 52 pairs of bed socks, and 8 dozen facc-cioths. and for the Lady Liverpool Fund: 5 dozen handkerchiefs, 13 pairs eocks, 100 sanitary shirts, and for mir.e-sweopers—7 pairs mittens. The Committee expressed its gratification at the zeal displayed by tho scholars in assisting in patriotic work. About £12 IS3 had besn raised by moatw of conoerfs organised by the tc-achei* of the school. It was agreed to bold tho breaking-up ceremony connected with the oth ar.d Cth Standards and the eecondary department ia St. Andrew's room, if avsolablo, on 20th inst., in the morning.
