LINCOLN FLOWER SHOW

A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The annual flower show, which was held in the Druids'' Hall, Lincoln, i yesterday afternoon, was the nlost successful function, of the kind which has yet been held. The entries, which totalled over 250. were a. cord, and the quality of the flowers shown was remarkably -good, though the effects of the dry season were shown In the section for fruit and vegetables, winch was not quite 6o good as usual. The show, for ite'first few years was held for the benefit of the High School, but lest year the whole 'of the proceeds were given to'the Bed Cross, and this year they • will be divided between ; the Lincoln branch of, the Red Cross Society and the School. There was a gratifyingly large attendance of the public, for whom many other attractions besides the . flower show- proper had '- been arranged. TJie stalls and those in charge of them, were as. follows:—Sweets stall. Miss Osborne; needlework, Mesdamcs Soott and Mcintosh;, flower eta.il/Mrs-Bartian and Miss Blackmore; strawberry and cream stall. Mrs Bartram; produce stall, Mrs Dorman; soft drinks, Mr Bartnun;. fancy >stall. Miss Bartram ; and afternoon tea, Mrs Msyne. • In each case there were numerous young lady assistants at the* stalls, which, apparently did a brisk business. The judges were as. follows:—Mr Humm (flowers), Mr A. E. Lowe (vegetables), Miaaes Scott and Ronnie, (cookery), Mrs Lookhead and Miss Whitelaw (home industries), and Mrs Alexander and Mrs Morten (decorations). 'The show was opened by Col. the Hon. R. H. Rhodes, who, after beinff introduced by Mr W. Bartram, chairman of the school committee, in ado an interesting speech, in which he touched upon his experiences with the Red Cross in Egypt, Malta, and England, and concluded by urging ail his hearers not to relax their efforts for the benefit of the Red 'Cross Fund.
