The Legislative Assembly read tho Totalisator Bill a first time ~ The Liqnor Amendment Bill, which has received the Governor's assent provides for the absolute closing of hotels on Christmas Day and Good Friday, and tho prohibition of the sale or sort drinks after six o'clock. THE BANK TO BANK PRINCIPLE. BRISBANE, December 8. The Legislative Council read a first time a Bill legalising the eight hours bank to bank as interpreted by tho miners. ABOLITION OP GOVERNORS. MELBOURNE. December 8. • The Labour Conference carried a motion urging an amendment of the Constitution to empower tho Commonwealth Parliament to abolish Legislative Councils and State Governors.
