Line have fixed tlie Roscommon and Paparoa to take the berth at New York i for New Zealand ports. . The liner Port Hacking is definitely due at Auckland about Christmas Day from New York, via Panama Canal. Sli® will arrive at Lyttclton early in January. There Has "been some doubt about the Port Hacking destination, but the latest advice_ reports that she ia coming to New Zealand The liner Port Chalmers, en route from London to New Zealand ports, is expected to get away from Sydney within the next few dav3 for Auckland. Napier, and Wellington. The four-masted American schooner E. i>. Jackson, bound from Puget Sound to Dunedin with lumber, put into Melbourne last Saturday week for provisions. Besides this, a form of malarial fever has been experienced on board. . . The barque Daniel, which is at present at Timaru with a part cargo of timber from Newcastle, is under command of Captain Birch, who has the distinction of being a returned soldier. Captain Birch served on Gallipoli with the Australian Forces. The mail steamer Maitai, which left Wellington on November 9th, has arrived at San FTancisco. SHIPPING AND MAILS.
