Officers were ■ "'" appointed as follows:—President, the Rev. - H. E. East;- vice-president, Mrs J. Hotchkin; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. T, Wild. -An J. executive sub-committee was appointed conlisting of the officers and Messrs D. McLean, _ C. Kirkby, H. May, J. .Russell, and W. Fletcher, with the ladies of tho General Committee, seven to be a quorum. A vote of lhanks was passed to th© Kowai County Council for providing material for the branch. .' -The ladies meet for sewing in the Oddfellows* Hall every Friday afternoon. LINCOLN. ' A meeting of the committee of the Lincoln Bed Cross was held on Tuesday. It was reported that th© recent fete held at the College had resulted in the sum of about £110 bemg handed to the Branch. The commit- ■• tee expressed its thanks to those who originated and worked for the fete. In answer to ' an appeal from the Christchurch Centre, it ! was decided to make a donation of £1 per •(. month towards providing comforts for soldiers in hospitals in New Zealand. Mr and Mrs McMullan and family having' disposed of their farm and purchased a property at Kirwee, opportunity was taken to accord a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs McMullan and_ the Misses McMullan for the valuable •esistance rendered the local Branch. Mrs McMullan, in just over twelve months, knitted for the Branch 104 pairs of socks, besides doing a large amount of sewing and other 'work, and the Misses McMullan's record is tlao a splendid one. ■ Arrangements were made to arouse interest in the forthcoming ■ports gala at the Seiwyn Domain, which is to be held in aid of the Red Cross on New Year's Day. HANMEB SPRINGS. s The Hanmer Ladies' Red Cross Guild held . f*a successful sales on Saturday, November tsth, and December 2nd, the total realised being £31. As before, the patients of the Queen Mary Convalescent Hospital gave every assistance in their power, and in the evening a concert was given by th© Queen •Mary Ragtime Band and visitors.
