' Tlie Blackball Coal Company's steamer Ngakuta, which arrived at Lyttelton on Friday night from Greymouth, is expected to leave on her return to-day. . The Karamu was to have left Greymouth on Saturday for Lyttelton. En route she will make a call at Wellington. From London, via ports, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Athenic is expected to arrive at Auckland on Thursday next. An exceptionally long passage is being made by the American schooner Andy Mahoipy, which was 90 days out from San Francisco to Auckland yesterday, and it is quite time she showed up at the northern port. The barque Louisa Craig took 54 days from San Francisco to Lyttelton, a considerably longer voyage, so th« non-appearance of the. Andy ilahony i s giving rise to some little anxiety. Mr L. V. Sutton has joined a special service ship as radio operator in place of Mr J. A. Heavey. Messrs D. J". Young and C. McVicar have signed on a special service steamer as third and fourth engineers, vice Messrs Douglas and Calvert. The Imperial authorities should have nothing to gain by keeping the wheat in Australia if the means can be found for transporting it to Europe.
