The population of the "Waimea County (exclusive cf Xelson city and the borough® of Richmond and Motueka) is 6ho*.vn by the reoent census to be 9329, an increase of 703 since 1911. The total population, cf the Waimea county, Xelson city, and Richmond and Motueka boroughs is 20,4138, r-s against 18.609 in 1911, showing an increase for the whole district of 1529. These figures do not include those for the Takaka and Co!lingwood counties.

An interesting sidelight on the recent 1 census la provided by the figures allowing the number of residence in each district (says the Auckland "Star"). The total for the city of Auckland and the euburba on the ■outh eide> of the harbour on the night of October 15th 23,085, while 59 other dwellings were in course of erection. Of the completed fcouoee, 1250 were uninhabited.
