A deputation of 20 Federal Opposition members presented to Senator Pcarce, Minister for Defence, resolutions urging the withdrawal of the proclamation calling up men, and the release of the men now in the training campsSenator Pearce promised to place - their representations before the Government. A Women's National Party is being formed to secure the co-operation of women to promote national welfare and obtain adequate political and municipal representation. IN NE.W SOUTH "WALES. THE LABOUR DICTATION. SYDNEY, November 17. The "Sydney Morning Herald" states that every member of the new State Opposition has been called upon by the Political Labour League to nand in an undated resignation of his seat, addressed to the Speaker, to be used in the event of his taking up an attitude which appears to the League to be a breach, of the Labour platform or principles. CONSCRIPHONISTS PENALISED. SYDNEY, November 17. The Labour Council carried a motion requesting the withdrawal of delegates of all unions who are conscriptionists. IN QUEENSLAND. TAXATION PROPOSALS. (Received November 17th. 9.35 p.m.) BRISBANE, November 17. The Legislative Council carried an amendment against the Government proposal for the abolition of the Upper House by 19 votes to 3. 'The Government's new taxation projposals are for Is 6d in the £ on assessable incomes of foreign banking and insurance companies as from the end of last December. A Bill was introduced disqualifying from membership in Parliament persons acting as directors or attorneys or solicitors for a monopoly or alien companies.
