ITALY'S CAMPAIGN.
AN AUSTRIAN EFFORT. MASSING IN THE TRENTINO. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) MILAN, November IG. The remarkable renewal of enemy activity on the Trentino front is regarded as foreshadowing another formidable Austi'o-Hungarian offensive iu the hope of breaking into tho Venetian plains and so relieving tho pressure on the Carso. Heavy reinforcements and artillery and infantry during tho past fortnight have been concentrating on tho Trentino, under the personal supervision of General Yon Hoetzendorff, who, despite lii s bitter experience, may still consider the Trentino the most favourablo point for the invasion of Italy.
Hungarian newspapers confirm the plans, and while regretting the weakening caused by withdrawals from the Transvlvanian expedition. ' say that they must boldly face the Italian meiiiico.
