i THE GOLD BRAID DISTINCTION. The reccnt British Armj* Order, di- > recting all officers and men who have been wounded at the front to -wear a ' short strip of gold braid on the leit sleeve of the service jacket, is repeat- » cd in New Zealand General Orders issued on Friday. The Order states: — "The following distinctions in drees will be worn oil the service dress jacket s by all officers and soldiers who have . been wounded in any of the campaigns j since August 4th, 1914 : — | "Strips of gold Russia braid. No. 1, 2in in length, sewn perpendicularly on the left sleeve of the jacket, to mark each occasion on which wounded. "In the caee of officers the lower end of the first strip of gold braid -will be immediately above- the upper point of i the flap cuff. "Warrant officers, nonJ commissioned officers, and men will ) wear the gold braid on the left sleeve, I ' the lower edge of the braid to be. Sin I from tho bottom of the sleeve. The additional strips of gold braid, mark- ; ;ng each subsequent occasion on which , ; wounded, will bo placed on either side of the original one at vin interval. "Gold braid and sowings will be ob- [ tained free on indent- from the Army ■ Ordnance Department; sewing on will : be carried out regiment-ally without cxj penee to the .public." I A number of officers and men who I have returned from the front and have been wounded arc already wearing these • badges of distinction in New Zealand. ! They are certainly neat, and the hope is ? expressed that they will be generally worn in future by those who arc entitled to them.
