Last week a concert and dance was held in the Public Hall, Ohoka, to say farewell to Privates Garnett, Jackson, Orchard, and Taylor, who are shortly leaving for the front. A large crowd attended, and Mr F. Pearce presided. Songs were given bv Mrs Wylic, Mrs Martin, Mrs Heald, Miss Opie, and Mr Opie, and recitations by Miss Kathleen Young and Master Eric Knight. The departing soldiers were pre=< >T > >-?d by Miss Hadin with a case of ;>• each, and Private Garnett was pi od by Mr Booker, on behalf of tJ.c Cricket Club, with a eet of military hairbrushes, a wallet, and money-belt. Cheens were given for the men and for those at the front, the whole audience singing "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows." Supper was then served, after which a dance was held, the music being supplied by Miss Taylor. During the evening a cushion, presented by Mts Brown, whose son was recently killed at the front, was sold by Mr Opie for the Lady Liverpool Fund, and realised aTxrat £7, heing finally bought for £2 by Mr W. Orchard. A cushion made by Miss J. Clist was sold to Private Jackson for 10s. Altogether the concert realised about £20. KIDNEY COMPLAINT AND GRAVEL COMPLETELY CURED. BY DR. SHELDON'S GIN PILLS.
