MOTUKARARA.
The report of the Patriotic Committee shows that five send-off socials have been held, at which eight departing soldiers have been honoured; that a Welcome Home Fund ha 3 been instituted; that a Roll of Honour has been placed in the hall, .and that a monthly subscription scheme has been established. In respect to the .Roll of Honour, which contains 18 names, it is (pointed out that tho present one wa« only of a temporary character, and that it is intended to substitute a better article at-the close of the war. Piegarding the monthly subscription scheme, it is pointed out that its principal object is to carry on tho woiUc of the Gobbic'a Valley and Motukarara Ladies' War Work Guild. The Guild, to the end of August, from various sources, had collected and used the sum of £133 16s. To tho Red Crosa Depot 1354 articles havo been sent, while to the Lady Liverpool Depot 448 pairs of socks and 00 other articles harve been given. To continue this good work funds are needed, and will be supplied by the loyal support of the monthly scheme. The balance-sheet 6liows: — Socials Account —Income, £16 7e 6d; ex-' penditure £12 17s 9d; balance, £3 9s 9<L General Account —From - Rifle Club, £5; Haro Drive, £1 3s; concert, £12 12a—£18 15s. Monthly scheme—Collected, £21 13a 2d; paid to Ladies' Guild, £20; balance, £1 13s 2tL The treasurer points out that, with tho moneys which the Ladies' Guild has handJed, £190 has been raised in the district in tbo last 18 months for patriotic purposes.
