ROMAN CATHOLIC MISSION.
* The mission, conducted by the Redemptorist Fathers, now in progress ac the Roman Catholic Cathedral, has proved remarkably successful up to the present. Large congregations attend the masses each morning at 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock, at which devotional instructions are given by one or other of the missionaries. The Cathedral is crowded each evening at the service which commences at 7.30, a special feature being the mission sermon. The earnest exhortations and eloquent discourses of the missionaries have deeply impressed the exceedingly large numbers who have attended the services. The mission closes next Sunday with special solemnities, and on that occasion it is anticipated the present record of communicants on any one occasion at the Cathedral —1150—will be exceeded. Not the least lasting result of the missionaries' efforts is the augmentation in numbers of all the Catholic organisations and societies.
