The students who attended the classes in fruit culture conducted during the winter months by Mr W. J. Courtier, orchard instructor, attended a field day demonstration at Mr Fred King's orchard, Heaihcoto Yalicy, en Saturday afternoon. Between 20 and 25 attended, and Mr Courtier. a-, examples tho trees in Mr' King's weilkopb orchard, which, in addition to apples and pears, contains all kinds jI stone fruits and small fruits, explained practical matters connected with their culture, the diseases they arc liable to be attecked by. and the steps to be taken to combat their.. and also the methods of culture to be adopted to secure the best results. The demonstration lasted for two hours, and a great number of qucstionsfl»ere asked by the students and answered by Mr Courtier. At the closo of the demonstration Mr and Mrs Kin<r entertained the gathering at tea. Mr Gray, n conveying the thanks of the students to Mr and Mrs Kiug and to .Mr Courtier. said that the students had received great benefit from the demonstration.
