AKAROA AND WAINU ROAD BOARD.

Tho monthly meeting of the AkaroaWainui Road Board was held on Saturday in the Council Chambers, Duvauchellc. Present—Messrs Geo. .Armstrong (in the chair), T. W. Wilkins, W. W. Williams, W. Warner, and Rolrt. Pettigrew.

Applications for the positions of three foremen and five surfaceriien for the ensuing year, resulted in the reappointment of the present employees.

The Board decided to expend at least £23 in making certain improvements to tho Hickory road, provided Mr J. Knight, to whose place the road led, subsidised the amount so spent £ for £.

The chairman and Mr Williams wero deputed to inspect the road and decide upon the improvements deemed essential.

It was decided to put in a low concrete retaining wall along the an side of tha Beach road, from the town boundary to the Btiat Siio.

Foremen W. Shad bolt, 11. Dack, and Amos Arnold submitted their reoorts of work undertaken during the month.
