'"We are apparently on the eve of a great battle on the Struma. The British are in contact with the Bulgarians on a seventeen mile front between Jeninia and Seres, and British patrols have already reconnoitred the enemy's posi-

tions."

TIIE BRITISH REPORT

The. High Commissioner reports:— LONDON, October 13 (2.55 p.m.).

The British report states: — "On the Struma front we pushed patrols from l'roscnik and Topolova to the east of the railway. Our armoured cars reconnoitred the junction of the Seres-Demirhissar and SeresSalonica roads. The enemy holding the railway was found in strength, about the Nishor-Doiran front to tho northward of Doldzel. Hostile trenches were raided, and after strong resistance the enemy fled."

"It is stated that the enemy at Monastir, commanded by tho German General, Von Winkler, has again r©ceived reinforcements." A BULGARIAN REPORT. AMSTERDAM, October 13. A Bulgarian communique states:— "We repulsed six attacks at Sketcliivir. The enemy. shelled Seres."
