The Sumner Tennis and Croquet Club opened its season on Saturday under ideal conditions, and in the prosecco of a large gathering: of members and friends. Mr Crawford welcomed th« visitors, nnd expre«s«i pleasure at 6eeing such a large attendance. He said that tho club was well represented at the front, the members having responded nobly to the calL lie ttade special mention of the loss tho club had sustained through Mr and Mrs E. G. RICCARTOX DOMAIN CLUB. The Ricoarton Domain Club held tho opening of their season on Saturday in glorious weather. The courts were looking very well, and reflected groat credit on tho members. There was no formal opening. _ Tho ladies provided afternoon whicn friendly games wore played until close on duek. The scarcity of the young men was keenly noticeable, aa a large number have gone to tho front. CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Catholic Cathedral Tennis Clnb it was reported that as most of the members of tho club were away on active service, tennis during the past eeason had not been very brisk. All eligiblea among the members "aro either at the front or in training. The following officers were elected:—Patrons, his Lordship Bishop Brodie and Sir Geo. Clifford: president, Mr J, R. Haywood; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Cronin and J. McX-amara; hon. vice-presidents, Rev. Fathers Long and Murphy committee, Mr E. L. McKcon, Misses Meachen Canavan, A. and N.
