SUPREME COURT. IN CHAMBERS. (Before his Honour iir Justice Denniston. In rc the New Zealand Insurance Company v. D. E. Thorn toil and another, an order for the examination of John Francis Whit© was granted by consent. GREY MOUTH SESSIONS. (PMtSS ASSOCIATION- TSI/EGRAIO GREYMOUTH, September 19. In the divorce case, Gibbeus v. Gibbons, petitioner was a returned soldier, who alleged adultery. There was no appearance, of respondent or the corespondent. A decree nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months. In the libel action, Noel Peat v. the "Groymouth Evening Star," the jury was not satisfied that the paragraph was intended for plaintiff. Judgment was for defendants, with costs. ' MAGISTERIAL. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, SJI.) DRUNKENNESS.) A first offender was fined 5s and costs. John Johnson, a second offender, was fined 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. John Atkinson, charged with drunkenness and using obscene language, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. BROKEN ORDERS. Leonard Merchanton, charged on two separate informations with, procuring liquor, pleaded guilty, and wa6 iiued 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. John Smith, charged with procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, pleaded not guilty. He was fined 10s, or 48 hours' imprisonment. MAINTENANCE. Win. Falconer, chargcd with a breach of his maintenance order —being in arrears to the extent of £62, was sentenced to sis months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended ou payment of 30s per week. Robert Wilson was charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. James Alexander Kenney. charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended provided 30s a week were paid. Hubert George Mitchell, being in arrears to tile extent of £250, was charged with disobedience of a maintenance order, and was sentenced to imprisonment for six months, the warrant to be suspended provided ho paid 30s weekly. THEFT. (rRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, September If. Afc the Police Court. Dominick McDonagh and Albert West, two of tho crew of the steamer Niagara, were each sentenoed to six months' hard labour for thefts from cargo. One of tho accused had in his bunk pillows stuffed with 120 pairs of ladies' silk stockings, valued at £12 10s. The other man's .kit contained a number of pairs of ladies' shoes, valued afc £8 16s. Both lines of goods had been stolen from the ship's cargo.
