RED CROSS FUND.
BROQKSIDE BRANCH. The annual meeting of tho Brookside Bed Cross Branch was held in tho Schoolroom, Miss E. K. Scott, presiding over a good attendance, including a. number of gentlemen. Tho annual report stated that 60 meetings had been held during the year. The membership of tho branch was 35, and the avorapo attendance 2S. Tho report also gave a list of the work done during the i. year. A report on tho Lady Liverpool work niatcd that in January last the ladies had been asked to help by contributions of money or gifts in kind for tho men in tho trenches. The idea was at one© taken up very heartily, almost all tho members sending in 1 a subscription every month. A garden party ' held at Mm Henderson's, in aid of tho Lady , Liverpool Fund, had been moat successful. i The balance-sheet showed receipts totalling : £367 Gs 3d, and expenditure £14 12a lOd lose, the principal item being-materials £260 18s. v Tho president stated that a number of people had promised to givo monthry - contributions to help on the Red Cross work. Mr J. Boag, junr., complimented the ladies upon the satisfactory state of affairs as revealed by (he report and bolanoo-shoet. The amount of work dene was marvellous, end lw trusted that' there would bo plenty of money forthcoming to carry on tho .work** with unabated vigour during the current "year. Mr Boag also expressed the hope that tho claims of tho Lady Liverpool Fund | would not bo overlooked. Mr J. Cunningham also complimented, tho ladies, who. ho oaid, had risen to the occasion splendidly, and. on his motion the gentlemen present ncoordod the branch a hearty vote of thanks. Officers were elected as follows:—Prosi- ' de-nt, Mrs F. G. Frampton; vice-president, Mrs W. Brooke; hon. secretary and troaEitr*r, Miss M. Henderson; committee, tho members of _ tho branch, seven to form a | quorum; auditors, Messrs W. B. Cunningi ham and A. E. Hight. • ; The retiring president expressed hex Wrm. [ thanks to the members for thoix co-opera-tion and loyal heir) during the year, and said_ she waa sure the new president would icceivo the same measure oi support. I On tho motion of Messrs J. Boag, junr., and J. Cunningham, a hearty vote of thanks | was accorded :he retiring president and the secretary, who Lad carried out their duties in a most thorough and highly creditoblo manner. The Buying Committee was also thanked on the motion of Mrs J. S. Boag, and tho Jadies then provided supper.
