The ferry steamer Maori did not reach Lyttolton -until 9.25 on Saturday morning, and consequently missed connexion with the first express. Tho barqucntino Westneld is expected to leavj® Lyttelton for Tocapilla (Chili) to-day. New Zealand consignees with cargo on the German steamer will bo interested to learn that the secretary of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce has received advice that it will now only be a. comparatively short time before this steamer » again on its way to Australia. The Adelaido sheltered at Loanda, Portuguese West Africa, at the outbreak of tho war. The fact that the vessfcl is continuing its voyage is due to Portugal commandeering German interned vessels .sheltering in Portuguese ports. It appears that the German crew made away with essential parts of the engines, but sufficient temporary ropaira were effected to enable the vessel to proceed to Capo Town to permit of permanent repairs being made. Having left the Chatham Islands on Saturday, the Himitangi is duo at Lyttelton tomorrow. With case oil from Now York, tho Vacuum Oil Company's chartered steamer Kinross arrived at Auckland on Friday.
