Cooper, J. J. Graham, G. E. Goc-d----v/iii, J. B. Uafward, Yi". Havward, P. li. Jones, S. C. Owen, B. M. Keovca, H. It. Busbridge, and B. Sath-Smith. The Appointments Committee reported that it hnd appointed Mr B. T. Wttkinson assistant instructor i:i engineering and had written to the. Universitj- Senate recommending that Latin b? not a compulsory subject for the d::i!.al preliminary examination. \ Tho Finaitc? Committee reported a credit balance of £1070 10a 7d, and recommended ■that the sum of £15 bs spent on pictures for the College, and the- hostel.—Adopted. The Omihi Farn:ers' Union forwarded a donation cf .-£-3 2s, and the Canterbury A. aind P. Association ouo of £20, which were accepted with thanks. Letters wore received from the Prime Minister, the. Hens. G. A','. IlusEeil, iJr. McjS'ab, p. Buddo, and Jn-s. A deputation from tlio Advifory Committer of ladies, conaißtiiiff of Mesdame3 Bowen, Chilton, Brock, Scott, and Howell, waited on ihe Board in connexion with tlio res/!?nation of Mrs Gard'ner from the position'of principal of th? Girls' Hostel. Mrs Bowen pointed out that Mrs Gard'ner had had 21 ycura' cxnericaco of the work, and had, moreover. sncw;i with the girls in her charge wonderful tact and perception, while her financial management hnd "made the Hostel a success. Mrs Chilton also spoke of th-o marvellous tone Mrs Gard'ner had imparted into her work, and both ladies urged the Board in accepting Mrs Gard'ner's resignation to be just with an old -servant cf tho Board, whoso work ivould leave its traco for many and many a year on the girls she had trained. The Board agreed to consider tho matte:-, and the deputation retired. A letter was received from the Education Board conveying a. communication from tho D:-partinent with regard to the election of numbers of tho Board. Til? Director, in Answer to a, question, stated that the Canterbury Farmers' Union and the Trades und Labour Council had ccared to contribute. It was decided to v.-rite to tho bodies named asking the reasons for tho suspension of their contribution".
