CANTERBURY BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION.

1 A special meeting of the Canterbury Beekeepers' Association was held in the Trades Hall on Tuesday, the president (Mr E. G. ard) in the chair. Tho chief object of the meeting was to discuss tho attitude of the Association in relation to tho National Beekeepers Association. A conference of the Dominions beekeepers will be held in Wellington on June 7th, Bth, and 9th. when the constitution of the National Association will revised, qb Bomo of tho proposed amendments are likely to affect district associations affiliated with tho National Association, it was considered that a definite policy on the part of Canterbury should bo decided •upon. After full discussion in committee, it was resolvod that Mr C. A. Jacobeen should b© appointed to represent tho Canterbury Beekeepers' Association at the conference, with authority to enunciate the Association's views and vote on all questions submitted. Mr Jacobsen will report to the annual meeting of the Association, which will be held soon after the conference. . Messrs A. H. Turnbull and Co. wrote asking- for Quotations for honey for export, either c.i.f. or f.o.b. It was reported that during the last two months several enquiries had been received by the secretary, but unfortunately tho season just endeo proved one of the worst ou record in Canterbury. and the quantity available for export will be very small; in fact, it is considered that tho local trade can absorb more than the quantity available at a substantial advanco on the prices current in previous years. Tho secretary was instructed to reply explaining the position. ' After the business of the evening had been disposed of a very pleasant two hour® was spent in social intercourse and discussion of problems relating to be© culture. Mr L. Bowman, inspector of apiaries for the Canterbury district, who was present by invitation, gnvo the results of his experience in a short talk. Miss M. Sheolierd contributed a poem, entitled "The Beekeepers' Dream,'' which' was keenly enjoyed.
