(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) -\VANGANUI, May 30. As a sequel to the recent death of a young -woman named Edna Beatrice ffoprg in the "VVanganui Hospital, RicharaPatricb Pollard, sergeant-major in the Defence Forces, Hawera, was charged 'in the Magistrate's Court today with illegally using an instrument for n certain purpose. Dr._ Earle, honorary surgeon at tho "Wanganui Hospital, said the woman's death was due to blood-poisoning. The principal ■witness -for the police was irederic Timma, a typewriter expert, who stated that a letter purporting to be sent by the accused to the deceased was typed on a Royal Barlock typewriter in the Defence Office at Hawera. He said the machine had imperfections in certain letters, which were repeated consistently in the correspondence which was typed on the machine. Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial.
