CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

» MEETING OF BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The Board of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday. Present: Mr J. 0. Adams (.chairman). Dean Harper, Messrs H. Boyd, H. D. A eland, W. Brock, T H'. Davcv, T. Hughes, W. Izard, G. J. Smith, A. Flower, and S. Hurst Seagar. The Board of Education notified tho appointment of Bishop Brodio to the vacant position on the Board. The Registrar reported that Mr A. E. Flower had been elccted to tlie seat vacated by Mr G. Renuic. The chairman cordially welcomed tho new members. Tho Registrar reported that the following nominations had been received in connexion with tho annua] election of members: —Representing the graduates: Messrs TV. H. Montgomery and S. Hurst feeagar. Teachers: Mr L. B. Wood. Sclloo] Committees: Mr H. D. Acland. Canterbury members of Parliament: Mr J. J. Dougall. The annual to port was adopted. A letter was received from Mr G. Archcy. asking for leave of absence, as he was enlisting. Leave was granted on the usual terms. Tho Curator of the Museum wrote, suggesting that Dr. Moorhouse. who was now on hi s way to New Guinea, should be empowered to -purchase curios in Papua, and also that a letter of introduction be granted to Dr. Moorhouse. so that he should be duly accredited as a naturalist. It was resolved that tho Minister of Internal Affairs bo asked to send a letter of introduction to Dr. Moorbouse, and that the chairman and the Curator decide what amount of money could be spared for the purchase of curios. The Museum and Library Committee recommeuded that Mr \\\ W. Yeoman be appointed student-assistaiit m surveying at the School of Engineering for the session 1916; that the resignation of Mr George Maclndoe of his position as demonstrator in the School o-' Engineering be accepted as from the end of tho first terni of the current year, on account of his. havine volunteered for active service; that the School of Engineering Entrance Exhibition, tenable for two years, be awarded'to Mr "VV, C. Patton; that permission lie granted the Christchurch Domain Board to move the present gato and hedge fronting the Museum grounds on Rolleston" avenue, so as to bring the oak tree, growing between the Museum and the. Christ's College fence into greater prominence on the avenue, the Board to bear half tho cost £5; that the City Council be asked to erect two lamps, one on tho north f>nd one on fhe south side of the tree; that Miss Y. K. Bull be promoted to the position of third-assistant on the staff of the Public Library, as from May Ist. vice Miss B. Soencer, resiened: that Miss Grace de Ron be appointed to the nosit'on of junior assistant at . the Public Library. It was also resolved that t^" Board be reouested to ask the Christ Collie B«ord of Governors to alter the position of an iron shed and fence close to the Museum.
