WHARENUI SCHOOL.
TO TDK KIMTOH OF "XUK I'll ESS." Sir, —Kindly allow me space in which to reply to Mr Heneiv's letter 1 that appeared in your Saturday's issue, dealing with a report of the above • School Committee. He says: "I could not quite understand Mr White's statement, that he could mention some cowyards, ."where some need for complaint might be found. Now, why pick out the daily people?" In the first place 1 wish to thank Mr Henery for the gentlemanly way in which he makes the enquiry. I can assure him that 1 when referring to inspection of cow- . j yards, 1 made special mention that I 3 <lid not refer to vendors of milk. They are well looked after by the dairy inspector. I know, but there are persons other than milk-vendors. who keep cows, presumably for private use, and j whose yards should he under as rigor- ! ous an inspection. i Regarding the latter portion of his ! letter. I quite agree with him when he soys: "No one ought to blame an inI spector for doing his duty to the public;" etc. As regards the inspector ; '"finding things not as they should be at the school": Surely those actively and honestly interested in the welfare of thp school should be in n position to know, that the report and the statements of one or two councillors, that j the school conveniences are insanitary, i has been amplv disproved.—Y'ours. etc.. G. D. WHITE. 3 Division street, Riccarton. April loth.
