DESPERATE FIGHTING. NEW POSITIONS LOST AND RECAPTURED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received April 14th, 9.5 p.m.) ROME, April 34. An official communique says : — "The enemy made a surprise attack and rushed our positions in the Ledro Valley. The enemy also took Mount Sperone. "Our counter-attacks recovered tho positions after deadly hand-to-hand struggles, and extended our occupation on the slopes of Mount Sperone. "We wrecked the enemy's trenches on Mount San Michoie and Mount San Martino with hand bombs. There are artillery duels along the whole of the Carso front."
