MELBOURNE, April 8. The Defence authorities are forming a Naval Coaling Battalion, for the purpose of coaling transports. Mr Jensen states that the action is due to the way in which transports are delayed through labour troubles. Three hundred men will be sworn in daring the coming week. They will wear a distinctive uniform, and will receive Union rates of pay.
