GOLF.
CHBISTCHURCH CLUB.. The Christchurch Golf Club opened it* season on the Shirley link* on Saturday with a match for the A. E. G. Rhodes Challenge "Bowl, and the putting competition. There was a gratifying attendance of players. The greens were in excellent condition, the result of the irrigation made possible by the new water supply, con. sisting of a tank capable of holding aßout 5000 gallons, water being pumped from tb® creek by an oil engine. There were eighteen •entries for the A. E. G. Rhodes Challenge liowi, t-ho competition resulting in a tie T.'/iich will be decided during the week. '
