IN TO-DAY'S ISSUE.
Germanv has declared war on Portugal. (Page 9).
The Portuguese have seized the German ships lying in Bay. (Page 9).
The Russians repulsed German attacks in Eastern Galicia, and on the Riga-Dvinsk front. (Page 9).
All tho German attacks on both sides of the Meuse have been repulsed. The French arc progressing on the west bank south- of Forges, and havo re-captured lost ground. (Page 9).
The French have regained ground in Upper Alsace. fPagc 9).
An important advance has been made on the Tigris by Major-General Aylmer, who is now seven miles from Kut-el-Amara. (Page 9).
In East Africa, General Smuts has advanced in the region of Mount Kil-ima-Ngaro. (Pago 9). i
Tho Hon. W. M. Hughes, Prime Minister of Australia, was received by the King. He afterwards attended a Cabinet meeting, and was subsequently entertained at a Parliamentary luncheon, at which important speeches wero made. (Page 9).
