FUNERAL AT HALSWELL
I The funeral of the late Mr R. D. Petrie, of the Railway Hotel, took place at Halswell yesterday morning. The popularity of the late gentleman was ehown by the large gathering of sympathisers who attended the service, which was conducted by the Rer. Canon Bean. Several of -the deceased's relatives were present, including his two sons, Messrs J. and B. Petrie, and his brother, Mr Gcorgo Petrie, of Aria, Auckland.- The following acted as pall-bearers: Messrs J. Campbell. W. Harkess, J. Smith, J. Ballin, J. Lorgelly } and R. McMillan. - "Wreaths were sent by Miss Montgomery, Mr S. Smith. Mr and Mrs M. Overton, Messrs Roper and Co., Air and Mrs Lister," Licensed Victuallers,' Association, Mr and_ Mrs Blair, Mr R. Leaman, Messrs Ward and Co., Mr and Mrs MeCullough, Mr L.' King, Trooper S. King, Nurse Doherty, Mrs Auton, Mr Clarence Auton, Mrs F. Hill, Mr and Mrs Cock, Messrs Fletcher, Humphreys and Co., Mr and Mrs Craddock. Dalgety and Co., Mr A. Willoughby. Mr and Mrs F. Heseltine, Mr and Mrs Snook, Dr. and Mrs Gerald Russell, Lyttelton Hotelkeepers, Mr and Mrs Bennett, Mr and Mrs McMillan, Messrs Shand and Co., Messrs Saunders and Co., Mrs D.
