I HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. | There will be ii matinee at His -Majesty's Theatre this afternoon, when the feature film, "A Yankee from the West," together with the excellent supporting programme, will be shown. The same programme will be screened for the last time to-night. i On Monday night there will be j shown for the first time the latest production of the Famous Players Company a feature film, entitled "Tho Cruciblc," with Marguerite Clark, the popular American actress, in the leading part. '"Tried in the fire" of temptation in "the Crucible of New York Life," she is said to give a powerful and emotional study that cannot fail to appeal to all classes of pic-turc-goers, and especially to students of human nature. The supporting pictures have been carcfully selected, and are claimed to be of a liigh standard. i EVERYBODY'S THEATRE. I On Monday, at Everybody's Theatre, there will bo presented a film taken with the spenial sanction of the Commonwealth Minister of Defence, and with the assistance and co-operation of the Australian Navy, entitled "How We Beat the Emden," and describing all the stirring incidents which took placc ivhen tho Sydney set out after the raider, ran her down, and outranged and outfought her off Cocos Island. Special camera men were despatched to Cocos Island, and the films they secured show the terrifying destructive powers of modern naval gunfire. The picture 'is in two reels, and will be shown for the week only. Another star attraction will be "The Now Janitor," featuring' Charles Chaplin. This picture; has not previously been screened in Christchurch. SYDENHAM PICTURES ._ Much interest was taken in tho screening of the dramatic picture, "Nell of tho Dance Hall," at the Sydenham Theatre last evening, in the presence of a large audience. This afternoon a special matinee will be given, and the final performance tonisrht. On Monday evening "The Crucible," produced by the Famous Players Company, featuring Marguerite Clark, will be presented. GLOBE THEATRE. ' The current episodes in_ "The Million Dollar Mystery]' serial will bb shown for the last time at the Globe Theatre to-day. On Monday the two final episodes will be screened, showing the final checkmating of the conspirators and the solving of the mystery. GRAND THEATRE. "The Education of Mr Pippj" a comedy-drama, adapted from the draw- | ings of Charles Dana Gibson, was ! again the big feature film at the j Grand Theatre yesterday, and was. witnessed by crowded houses at the , various sessions. The programme will , be repeated to-day. QUEEN'S THEATRE. "A Child of the. Surf," society drama, and the other pictures on the ' current programme were witnessed by large gatherings of patrons at the Queen's Theatre yesterday.
