CASUALTIES.
H. Dean, residing at Bedford street, Belfast, while cutting meat at the Canterbury Vrozcn Meat Company s works yesterday afternoon, let the knife slip, with the result that he sustained a severe gash on the aim, necessitating treatment at tho Christchurch Hospital. Yesterday afternoon an explosion of 231b of gunpowder, at tho Tramway Board's Redcliffs quarry, resulted in C. Norris being luirned on the hands, and C. Cate receiving injuries to his eyes. They were fortunate in escaping without'more serious hurt, as at the time they were working about 120 ft from the ground. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment. Morris was able to return to bis home, but Cate was detained in the institution.

AUCKLAND, February 10
The Wellington express -struck Ormsbv's butcher's cart at a crossing near Otorohanga. The driver, Louis Attv, was seriously injured, and died on his war to the Waikato Hospital. The horse "was killed, and the vehiele smashed to matchwood.
