ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
! DESPAIR OF HOMELESS MAN. (PRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGRAM.) j WOODVLLLE, January 29. A cottage on the Napier road was burnt to tiie ground last night, and the contents, including some money, were wholly lost. The house was occupied by Mr W. Stevens, a. man of 62, with no family. During the fire he attempted to commit suicide with a blunt knife, on the excuse that he had nothing to live for. He appeared in Court this morning, and was remanded to appear at Napier next Saturday.
