At the University Senate, on tho recommendation of tilt; Statutes and Ad Eundcm Committee, the Chicago was included in the list of I mvorsities recognised by the Univcrj sity of X'ew Zealand. j Mi.-:s Carrie Pierpont "Wallace, 8.A., j ol' Chicago University", was admitted ad cundem to the degree of B.A. in the j University of Xew Zealand. j Tho application of Alfred O. Rolfc for an ad eundcm degree was not granted, ! as the appliwyit is not a resident ot ] New Zealand, but is living in West Australia. It was resolved that the application of Agnes Muriel Winter for admission ad cundem to tho degree of M.A. could not be granted, as she held 110 degree of a recognised University as required by clause 11 of tho Statute of admission ad eundcm. Professor Hunter said that the easo wa* a very unusual one. The lady in ((Uestion possessed all the requirements for the degree of 8.A., of Oxford, but could not get, a degree because Oxford University did not give degrees to women. At the same time, the University of New Zealand, which gave degrees to women, could not give* an ad cundem degree to a person who had not already got a dtjgree. He thought something ought to be done to meet such cases. • The Chancellor: Onr Act won't permit us to do anything. Dublin University, however, confers degrees in these cases.
