Advice has been received that Private Edwin Hntton Lane of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, oth Reinforcements, was killed at Gallipoli on December 18th. Private Lane, who was only 19 years of age, was the elder son ot' tho jate Mr Lancelot Lane, of Waikari and a nephew of Mr B. L. Lane, of Christchurch. Ho was educated at Christ's College, where he distinguished himself at athletics, and at the time he enlisted was engaged as an engineer at Cooper and Duncan's.
