METHODIST CHURCH.

WOOLSTON. j The quarterly meeting of the Wool- ! ston Methodist circuit, which was fairljwell attended, was held at Sumner, the Rev. W. Laycock presiding. As result of a general review, it- was found that the various branches of the Church's activity were in a satisfactory condition. The roll of membership stands at 220. being a slight increase, and the junior membership at 89. Sun.-' day School returns showed 456 scholars on the roll,, and 28 teachers. It was reported that £42 had been raised for foreign missions, and £45 for home missions. The circuit balance-sheet showed the income for the quarter to be £94 Is 2d, and the expenditure© £94 10s 6d. Messrs R. H. Turner and HN. Buttle were re-elected circuit stewards. Mr R. H. Turner was appointed to represent the circuit at the approaching conference in Auckland. ADDINGTON. j The quarterly meeting of the Addington Methodist Circuit was held at the Clarence road Church, the Rev. T. W. Vealie presiding over a good attendance of officers. Reports from Sunday school and young people's societies were on i the whole satisfactory. Arrangements were made to further the interests of ] the Layman's Missionary movement. A circuit Convention will be held at Addington on Good Friday, when at the afternoon session papers will be read, followed by discussion, and in the evening there will be a public meeting. The matter of the ministerial oversight of the circuit, particularly concerning the Clarence road district, was fully discussed, and the decision arrived at should be the means of stimulating the work generally. The balance-sheet disclosed a small credit balance after liquidating last quarter's deficit. Rev. Vealie was granted leave of absence to attend the annual Conference at Auckland. Messrs J. McCullough and J. H. Jones were re-elected circuit stewards for the ensuing year, and were heartily thanked for past services. The next meeting will be held on April 4th at Lincoln road.
