PAT ROTIC SOCIETIES' CONFERENCE.
INVITATION DECLINED BY AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. (PRISJ ASSOCIATION TELJtKRAH.) AUCKLAND, January 14. The invitation to a conference which has been issued by the Minister of Internal Affairs to various patriotic societies has been declined by the executive of the Auckland War Eelief Association. It has been decided to reply that the Association has already taken steps to arrange for a conference oi kindred associations, frith a view of establishing -uniformity of action throughout the Dominion, therefore it considers the date of the conference, as suggested by the Minister —for the first week in February— id premature. Discussing the matter to-night, the Mayor said it would be absolutely a waste of time to attend the which would prove abortive, as several- simi-ar conferences had done. When the societiee were prepared to discuss matters from a reciprocal standpoint Auckland would be .ready to co-oper-ate with all the other patriotic organisations of the Dominion. In the meantime, Auckland had better keep clesr of undue Departmental interference.
