(Before Messrs S. Bullock and W. S. Fenner, J.P.'s.) DRUNKENNESS. Ono male and two female first offenders were each fined os, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. alleged false pretences. Herbert Thomas Porteous, alias Stuig, was charged that on December 10th last, he did obtain from William Baxter, tailor, of Waikari, one suit of clothes, valued at £4 10s, aud shirts and underclothing valued at 15s, "by stating that he had an account of £10 in the Bank of Australasia, Christchurch, and by tendering an order on tho manager of the bank, for £5 103, and causing the said William Baxter to act upon it as if genuino. On "tho application of Snb-Inspector Hastio ho was remanded till to-mor-row. ISY-LAW BREACHES. For motoring at an excessive speed over .street intersections and crossings Albert Green was fined 20s and costs and Reginald Adams, Clement George Andrews, Arthur Chappie, Harold Greenwood, Joseph Shepherd Hendy, James Thomas Passmore, Thomas Shearer, William R. Taylor, W T illiam Whyte, John B. Pearson, and Frank Restall were each fined 10s and, costs. A charge against Henry Harris of driving a horse and cab at a furious rate, was dismissed. For cycling on the footpath, Arthur Whitney Brogden, Frank Elliott Charles, .Tames Moriss, Harry Pannell, Charles Shaw, Reginald Henry Stillwell. David Taylor, and James Webb were each fined 5s and costs, and Lionel Brown and' Stanley Ambrose McDougall were each fined 5s without cosis. Charles Ogilvic, John Campbell. John Phillips, and Do Renzi Mathias, for cycling at night without lights, were cac-h fined/5s and costs. On a further charge of giving a wrong name and address De Renzi Mathias was fined 10s and costs. ✓ On two charges of allowing cows to wander, Gladys Mary Hancock was fined 20s and costs on the first, and convicted and ordered to pay costs on tho second. For allowing horses to wander Frank Harper and William James Wills were each fined 10s and costs. DOG NOT TINDER CONTROL. Harry Parsons was charged with having a dog not under proper control, and was called upon to show why the dog should not bo destroyed. The SubInspcctor said that the dog had since been sent to the home and destroyed. The Bendi therefore ordered defendant to pav costs. ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT William Frith, for whom Mi Donnelly appeared, was charged with an indecent assault on a female child five years of age, on January 7tli last, at Linwood. . . After hearing the evidence accused pleaded not guilty, reserving his defence, and was committed to tho Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed, self in £100 and two sureties of £50 or one of £100.
