Donaldson (secretary of the Poor of Great Britain, Ireland and Belgium Relief Fund) from Mr J. Hislop, Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs: — ■ '"In your telegram of 20th December you stated: 'This month's' quota available when you advise,' as handed by you to Christchurch papers the message reads: 'Monthly quota available ■ when you advise,? giving an entirely different moaning, as the latter implies future payments will be made up as well us December. The Minister will be glad to know whether the revised version supplied by you to the Christchurch papers is the correct one, and whether the correct meaning of 3'our telegram of 29th December, is that executive will provide balancc of future monthly quotas on being advised. If asurcd on this point by the executive, the money in hand will be immediately transmitted, as requested."
