PRIME MINISTER'S APPEAL
(rnESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 1. The Primo Minister issued the following appeal this evening: — The holiday season is now coming to an end, and I take the opportunity of impressing on the youn;: men of tJio Dominion that 300 recruits arc wanted to go into <;iran ;i t once. These are required for tho Eleventh Reinforcements, and I trust that the vacancics now existing will be lilled in a very few days. 1. 0 isofcncc authorities are. however, naturally anxious that training shall proceed regularly and properly, and that every New Zealand soldier shall have had befoio leaving liis own country sufficient training to fit hint for tho very important duties that later he will bo callcd upon to undertake ; hence the urgency of tho rer <iuest that is being made. \\ ounded and invalided men are now coming back to New Zealand in considerable numbers —men who liavo done their full duty on tho battlehe:.! wlio deserve wcil of their fellowcitizens. and whose places must be fiilcd. I Inivc no hesitation in saying that in the nresent crisu it is thic/ duty of every young man whose circumstances will allow of his leaving this country to join at tho earliest possible moment with those, whether in camp or in the field, who have, already proved their patriotism and loyalty by responding to their country's call.
