4 BURWOOD SCHOOL. I The Burwood School concert in aid of the | local Branch, ci the Rod Cross Fuad -was woll attended. Th« audieno* greatly appreciated the clever manner in ■which the children performed their items. The proceeds amounted to ilO. During the interval Miss Livingstone wa» presented with a fountain pen in recognition of her valuable aaeUtan.ee in connexion with the school concerts. WHAREXUI SCHOOL. A public meeting' of householders waa heH in th© Wharenui School on Saturday evening. The chairman of the School Committee, Mr F. (J. Coombs. presided. After an explanation by- the chairman, it 'was unanimously decided to recommend the committee that a gathering should tako place in the ne>w school ground, on February 26th. to take the form of a picnic and a patriotic function in aid of the school Red Cross i'und. PHILLIPSTOWX KINDERGARTEN. The Phi'iipstown Crcchc and KindeTtrarten closed on Tuesday afternoon for the* holiday*. The school waa crowdcd with mothers and frienda, about 80 being present. A large Chriataiaa tre* was provided for the children, and after the littl* one» had gone throujh their eierc:6e«. Father Christmas presented each with gifts from the tree. Mrs Taylor briefly addreeaed tbe mothers, sayin? how important it was f ft r tbem to send the:r children regularly to school, as the Government grant depended on the average attendance of the children, aod th« schools needed ali the help possible ju«t nor, as th« finances of the Association had suffered through the war. Afternoon tea waa sarv«d by ihe committee.
