An application for amendment of the j engineers' award was made by the ! employers. Messrs l». I'ryor arid b". ! Cooper appeared in support of the j application. Messrs S. Elston and S. \V. King appeared on behalf of the j Union. | LMr Pryor, in opening, said that par- | titulars laid before the Court had been j prepared by Mr Cooper. The points ; on which it was desired that the award j should be amended were: (1) stock; i catalogue work, (2) Limitation to two j branches of the wade, (3) limitation i of number of apprentices, and (4) •wages of apprentices. A conference !>etween representatives of the employers and employes had been held in Christchurch, and a considerable amount of time was taken up in a% tempting to arrive at a settlement, but none was arrived at. as no opportunity was given the employers to meet the men engaged in stock catalogue work. As a consequence, the employers were under tho necessity of asking the Court to renew the old clause. He called evidence. Frank Cooper, Henry Aubin, C. Fraser and T. B. Mackay gave evidence reemrding stock catalogue work. Tho Court adiourned till' 9 a.m. today.
