NURSERYMEN'S ASSOCIATION.

CANTERBURY COUNCIL. A special meeting of the Canterbury Council of the New Zealand Nurserymen's Association was held on Thursday, Mr R. Nairn being in the chair. The meeting was called to moot Mr Thos. Horton, F.R.H.S. (president of tho New Zealand Association of Nurserymen), and Mr Geo. A. Green (lion, secretary), who arc making a tour of tlie various centres in both islands in the interest of the Association. Mr Horton delivered a most interesting lecture, dealing with the objects, aims, and ideals of the Association. Ho outlined what had already been accomplished in the way of organisation, improved methods of production, and the raising and distribution of a vastly improved class of nursery stock. The president and secretary anstrered a number of questions relating to the Association and its work. The following motion was carried:— ''This meeting of the nursery trade respectfully urges the Government to pkee the "Orchard Bill on the list of urgent measures to bo brought down early jn tho session of 1916, as already promised by the Right Hon. the Prime .Minister on several occasions when deputations havo met him ou the matter." During the evening the general secretary (Mr Green) announced that it had been decided to hold the ninth annual conference for 1910 in WoiUi«ton.
