A study of recent shipping sales reveal eomo interesting facts relative to vaiues, ! especially of sailing ships, which, up to quit© a recent date, were comparatively speaking, sold at breaking-up prices. For ' instance, there is tho ship Tomdon, ISO 2 tons register, built at Aberdeen in 1835 at a coat of £13,500. In 1910 sh© realised £4250. and the owners considered they had received a good figure for her. What they think now though, is hard to say, for it has transpired that a<fow weeks ago she brought £9000. Another striking caao is that of tho Erbin. In 1687 cho coat £18,000 to construct at Glasgow, and after running till 1910 she was disposed of for £3100. Recently sh© again changed owners, this time at £13,500. The Danmark, built at Copenhagen in 1892 at a cost of £13,000, and which was sold in 1904 for £3750, recently brought £6700; and tho Wynford, built at Glasgow in 1897 at a cost of £18,000, has just been sold for £13,600. Tho barquo Almora, constructed at Glasgow in 1893 at a cost of £16,000. and sold in 1911 for £4800, realised £11,000. Tho Torrey, built at Glasgow in 1893 at a cost of £16.500, and tho Hawthorobank, built at th© same place in 1889 at a cost of £12,500, supply two further instances. In 1910 /tbo former was valued at £3100. and as recently as Ar/nist last th© latter was sold for £5600, yet when sold a few weeks ai»o they brought £11,000 and £SOOO respectively. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS.
