SYDNEY MAYOUAE BILL. SYDNEY, JDccembcr 10. In the Assembly, a Bill for overcoming the Mayoral deadlock, and providing for the election of a Lord Mayor of Sydney, ivas passed on the casting vote of the Sneaker. The Legislative Council amended the Biil by providing that if the question ivas not settled by December 30th tho Governor should" appoint a member of the Council to fill tho office. Tho Bill, as amended, was passed. (Received December 17th, 12.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 16. The City Council attempted to settle the Mayoral election deadlock, but adjourned pending lcgislativo action. WHARF LABOURERS' STRIKE. (Received December 17th. 12.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 10. Tho strike of wharf labourers at Darling Island is holding up the now season's wheat, involving the loss ol shipping space, as steamers are leaving empty. GOOD RAINS. .SYDNEY, December 15. Heavy beneficial rains have fallen over the whole State, except the Western quarter. LIQUOR LEGISLATION. SYDNEY, December 16. In the Assembly, tho Government rejected tho Council's amendment to the Liquor Bill providing for the closing of tho hotels at nine o'clock instead of ten o'clock, by 35 votes to 25. During the debate Mr Ilolmnn announced that ho was prepared at any time to introduce anti-shouting legislation. (Received December Kith, !J-4o p.m.) In the Legislative Council, a motion not to insist on the amendment of the Liquor Bill wa.s negatived by fourteen votes to eleven. A COURT SENSATION. Charles Lundlo, a .Swod", -ivlio was ordered to find securities, produced a revolver, and shotDorothy Davidson, who was seated at the solicitors' table. Ho then turned the v.capoi. on himself, and subsequently succumbed to his injuries. Tho v. Oman is expected to recover.
