THE COURTS.

MAGISTERIAL. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Three male first offenders were each fined os. in default 21 hours' imprisonment. A female first offender, an old-age pensioner, was convicted and ordered to pay doctor's expenses, amounting to 13s Cd, in default 21 hours' imprisonment. Henry MeCausland, an old offender, whom the Magistrate described as a "perfect nuisance." was lined 20s. in default 48 hours' imprisonment, on a charge of being drunk in Oxford terrace.

Rasmus Christian Fransden. a second offender, was fined 10s, in default 4S hours' imprisonment, on a charge of l>einc found drunk in Colombo street. On the application of his mother, who appeared in Court, a prohibition order was issued against him for 12 mouths. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. Annie Clements pleaded guilty to having been drunk in Manchester street on Saturday night, and also to usina; obscene language after being arrested. On the chargo of drunkenness .she was fined ss, in default 2-1 hours' imprisonment, and on the second charge was fined 40s, in default one month's imprisonment. A TRIPLE CHARGE. "William Henry Cain appeared on a charge of being drunk in Wordsworth street, Svdenbam. He was also charged with a third breach of his prohibition order, and further with assaulting Constable Ross whilst in the execution of his duty.

After hearing Constable Ross's evidence, Mr Bishop imposed a fine of 10s. in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness. 20s, in default one month's imprisoment for the assault on the constable, and for the breach of his order he was convicted and discharged. CIVIL BUSINESS. Judgment for the plaintiff by default, with costs, was given in each of the following cases: Harris Bros. v. Percival Smith, £45; C. H. Bridge and Son v. Martha Cross. £5 7s; "Para" Rubber Co. v. C, S. Holt, £3 19s sd; Christchurch City Council v. John Porter, £18 Gs 7d; Dcveroux, King and Co. v. J. E. Tasker. £2 6d; National Electrical Engineering Co. v. Hannibal Moore Emerson, costs only, 10s; H. A. Jarden and Co. v. F. AV. Vance, £15 lis 6d ; A. G. Talbot v. Benjamin FrogSart, £3 10s; M. O'Brien and Co., Ltd. v. Wm. Paterson, £72 15s lid ; Massey. Harris C 0.," Ltd. v. J. W. Uncles. £7 10s.

DEFENDED CASES. John Stevenson and Arthur MacGibbon (medical practitioners), (Mr Rowe) claimed the sum of £10 12s from A. C. Cone, engine-driver, of Christchurch, the claim representing attendances and visits upon defendant during the- months of September, October, and December, 1914. Plaintiffs did not appear, and after hearing defendant's evidence • judgment was given for plaintiffs for £5 ss, -with costs. P. S. -Nicholls and Co. (Mr Weston), claimed tho sum of £59 10s from Jorgen Kocks Christiansen, farmer, of Christchurch (Mr Cassidy), for the work, journeys, and nttendanco of the plaintiffs performed for the defendant at his request as commission agents in the sale of a certain farm situated at Southbridge, containing one hundred acres, the property of the defendant, to Robert Arthur Dyson at the prico of £34 10s, commission calculated according to the North Canterbury Chamber of Commerce scale. After hearing tho evidence of both sides, the Magistrate gave judgment for the defendant -with costs. Eric Cuddon (Mr Johnston) claimed tho sum of £4 17s from W. Good (Mr Amodoo), being damages sustained by his motor-cycle as a result of a collision caused by the alleged carelessness of defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiff for tho amount claimed, with costs. RESERVED JUDGMENT. In C. Bristow v. W. "Wardcll, claim £80 damages for injuries sustained as tho result of defendant's motor-car knocking bim from his bicycle on July 20th last, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £20 and costs.

LITTELTON. (Before Mr L. A. Stringer, J.P.) DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders for drunkenness were each convicted and fined ss.
