General Sarrail s latest communique says the retreat from the Tcherna front was methodically effected without great loss, though the attackers were heavily punished on the Bth and 9th. The French now occupy a front along the course of the Bojiruit. BULGARIAN CLAIMS. TEX GUNS AND MANY PRISONERS CAPTURED. (Received December J2th, o.C> p.m.) AMSTERDAM, December 11. A Bulgarian communique says— '"We expelled the French from Gradetz, throwing them into great disorder after hand-to-hand lighting. Wo captured many prisoners and ten British guns near . Pirovo. Tho AngloFrench casualties southward of the Rabrovo-\ alandovo lino were extremely heavy."

Donohoe, telegraphing from Athens on the evening o;' the Uth. says the Allies continue to retreat in good order, and a quantity of their artillery ii already in Greek territory. Wounded men in large numbers arc arriving nt tho frontier station of Ghevgeii. Tho fighting is of the severest character, tho Allies repulsing furious attacks. The French rearguard i- heavily engaged with the attackers, who include German cavalry. A heavy Gorman concentration is reported at Uskub and Thilippopo'.is. (Received December i'2ih, p.m.) SALONICA. An official communique states "The Bulgarians on Frii*y attacked the entire French front, narticularly on tho extreme left. All attacks failed." (Received Dccei-*— 13th. 1.10 a.m.) LONDON. December 12. Some of tho German newspapers profess to question the wisdom of advancing on Salonica, declaring that it would | cost- several army c orps. They say the Germans will be content to wait outside the Greek frontier, but will advance if tho Allies attempt an offensive from Salonica. Renter's at Athens says it is considered that 00.000 men will suffice to hold Salonica if it is held merely to close the outlet to the -Egcan Sea. LONDON. December 10. Router's correspondent, at Salonica states that a general retirement ol the Allies lroin their front ha.-j begun. Router's correspondent with the French headnuartors in Macedonia ronorts that :i!l was quid on tho morning of the Uth inst. Tho Bulgarians are claiming a great victory because they have occupied abandoned territory. The Bulgarians are numerically superior, and are following the Allies' Tho comitadiis penetrated Greek territory with a view to cutting the railway, but, the Greek authorities frustrated* their attempts. Mr Martin Donohoe telegraphs from Athens:—'The Anglo-French on "Wednesday were fiercely attacked by a largo Bulgarian force on the Blagucha, plateau. The enemy attacked tho French flank, hut tho latter changed front to meet tho onslaught. The Bulgarians encountered the British at Valandovo, and the British repulsed four attacks, decimating the Bulgarians. Heavy reinforcements in the evening threatened the British right." "The Times'' says that if the Bulgarians really annihihted a French battalion at Pirovo, they must hare been v.ell behind tho French. There is a risk that they may eut the railway on which the main body of tho I'rciich is depending. It cannot- be denied that both the British and French are likely to have great difficulty in extricating themselves. ITALY'S HELP. REPORTED LANDING IN ALBANIA. (Received December 12th, ~i.o p.m.) ROME, December 11. The Italians have been continuously engaged in disembarking troops at V aloua for three days. PARIS, December 10. Advices from Rome stato that the Italians are busily engaged in landing troops at Valona. Yalona is a port on the coast of Albania, ob miles south of Durazzo.
