QUEEN CARNIVAL.
• AUCTIONEERS' GROUP. Tho initial meeting of the auctioneers' group was held on Thursday night in Messrs I>algety and C'o.'s land saleroom, the majority of the auctioneering firms being well represented. Mr AY. ]>. Stewart presided, and briefly outlined the organisation and objects of the Carnival. A number of original schemes lor augmenting the fund were enthusiastically received. Tho following executive was set up: —Messrs AY. P. Stewart (chairman), A. H. Bourn, A. \V. Cook, R. L. M. Kitto, S.'Lawrence. 11. I). Macdonald, Adam Smith, W. AY. Morton, J. B. Merrett, Ci. D. Macfarlane. Mr E. G. Staveloy •was appointed lion, treasurer, pro tem., and Mr \V. A. Fleming hen. secretary. TRAMWAYS SECTION. A representative meeting of tho Tramways Sub-section of the Public Service Group was held last week. An election of delegates to the group executive resulted in Messrs E. P. Turner, H. do C. Browno and H. AY. Friedman being appointed, the lost-named being also appointed secretary, and Miss Hulmo assistant secretary. An Kxecuj tive Committee, with a representative from each department, was elected to I nominate a candidate for Queen, and to I further any sohemo promoted by tho j group executive. SOLDIERS' QUEEN. A representative meeting of Territorial juid Cadet companies was held in the Officers' Club Rooms, Kinrr Edward Barracks, last evening. Colonel G. J. Smith occupying the chair. A unanimous opinion was expressed by all present that tho Soldiers' Queon should appca] to the whole community, and that all Territorials and members of Cadet companies should be allowed to confine their efforts to securing the success of their Queen. It was decided that each company should form a ladies' committee, four ladies per company to act on the General Committee; also that the Executive Committee should nominate other ladies to act on the General Committee. I"niversaj approval of the nomination of the Soldiers' Queen was expressed.
